About Me

I’m a UCLA alumni currently on the journey to applying to medical school as an “average” applicant. By “average”, I mean that my stats and extracurricular activities from college are not atypical of other applicants. I hope to share my experience of applying to medical school, and what I learned along the way. That is why I am sharing my stats below- in case any of you are curious and want to see how I am faring. I hope that this blog serves to help other future applicants, and even help current applicants cope with the trials of applying, knowing that they are not alone in this.

MD Applicant Profile:

  • Major: Psychobiology; Minor: Developmental Psychology
  • GPA: 3.8 (Magna Cum Laude)
  • MCAT: 30 (9-9-12)
  • Activities in college: Director of a volunteer organization (2 years), Hospital volunteer (2 years), Psychology research and co-author of poster publication (1.5 years), Early childcare/education Internship (1 year – required by my minor), Ethnic dance club and performer (1 year)

UPDATE: as of April 2016

After a two-year-long hiatus, you may be wondering what I’m up to…did I get accepted to medical the first time around, did I reapply, did I end up choosing another career…???

I’m happy to say that I was accepted in 2014 (the time I started the blog). I am now a second year medical student.

My future plans are to update the blog with more posts about my application process, as well as hopefully post about what it’s actually like in medical school!
